The Story
There's a quiet vulnerability in Phoebe Day's unmistakeable vocals and the sultry tones of her music. Often compared to the likes of Sade, Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse, Day transports the listener into her world with an inimitable elegance, warmth and intimacy.
In 2018, Day released her single Two Steps and a live recording of Dave Brubeck’s Autumn in Washington Square (to which Day wrote her own lyrics). Her music has since received record of the day by renowned UK publication Record of The Day and high praise from Australianjazz.net, Beat Magazine, Happy Mag, Triple J Unearthed and KIISFM. Since moving to Melbourne in 2018, Day has played several headline shows in some of the city’s most established venues including a sold out Paris Cat Jazz Club, The Toff in Town and a headline show as part of the 2018 Live N Local Festival (City of Port Phillip). Day has performed as a guest vocalist with outfits such as the Back to Basie Big Band. Her own live band features some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians including Darryn Farrugia (Renee Geyer, Tina Arena), Mike Pensini (Dine Hines, James Morrison) and Joel Sena (Lionel Cole, Deana Martin)
