The Tim Stevens Trio

Tim Stevens is joined by longtime collaborator Ben Robertson on bass, and for this performance, by Niko Schauble on drums for an afternoon of original compositions and free improvisations characterised by the unique sound that Tim has cultivated over decades of work with ensembles such as Browne – Haywood – Stevens, which enjoyed a popular long-running Monday-night residency at the legendary Bennetts Lane through the 1990s. The trio he subsequently formed with Ben and with drummer Dave Beck has released five compact discs over the past twenty years. Tim’s assisting artists for this show are equally seasoned and imaginatively inspired performers who contribute their own distinctive flair and versatility to the sonic landscape. An afternoon of pure musical pleasure that nevertheless pushes gently at the edges of “tradition.”
