The Story

Alanna & Old Hats are a highly acclaimed Melbourne jazz quintet that brings to life the golden era of classic jazz from the 1920’s – 40’s transporting audiences to roaring twenties’ flappers’ speakeasies through the joie de vivre of vintage flapper dance music, the romance of timeless jazz ballads; the hot swing of sweet and soulful New Orleans’ blues and originals written in that sweet olde worlde style. Led by the velvet voiced Alanna Egan, whose influences include Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Julie London and many more, the band features the infamous Eamon McNelis (trumpet), swinging Sam O’Halloran (guitar), mistress of the deep Jo To (double bass) and king of the old school Ian Smith (drums).
