One of the most revered and influential directors of the 20th century, Michelangelo Antonioni explored the human relationship with the modern world in a radically new style, dissecting the tensions between people and their environments with an elegant, eerie cool.

From his early neorealist-inspired works, through to his masterful explorations of alienation in the 1960s, and his later works which explore his classic themes in drastically different contexts, our retrospective encompasses the world of a filmmaker who defined a century, and whose work, seen now, no longer feels simply prescient, but urgent.

This retrospective is made possible with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney.

Michelangelo Antonioni: Modernist Master screens from 5 February to 23 April.
