The Story

Based on the personal letters of Sigmund Freud, this poetic documentary gives immersive and intimate access to the little-known stories of Freud that move beyond his enigmatic ‘genius’ tag: from his Jewish roots in Freiberg, to his first encounter with his wife, and to his experiences as a family man who spent three hours writing every evening.

Narrated by his daughter, Anna, the letters depict the family’s forced deportation from Austria in the 1930s and their experiences as exiles in their new home in London, where Freud passed away in 1939.
