Grey Gardens Mother's Day Screening at Classic

This year for Mother's Day, treat your mum to a special screening at Classic Cinemas of the 2K restoration of Grey Gardens.

The acclaimed 1975 documentary observes the day-to-day lives of mother-daughter duo 'Big Edie' and 'Little Edie' Beale, the aunt and cousin of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whose derelict and ramshackle East Hampton mansion they dub 'Grey Gardens'.

One of the most beloved documentaries of all time, Grey Gardens was directed by the Maysles Brothers, Albert and David, who also directed Salesman (1969), Gimme Shelter (1970), and Albert made Iris (2014) on New York fashion icon, Iris Apfel.

  • Synopsis
  • Meet Big and Little Edie Beale: mother and daughter, high-society dropouts, and reclusive cousins of Jackie Onassis. The two manage to thrive together amid the decay and disorder of their East Hampton, New York, mansion, making for an eerily ramshackle echo of the American Camelot. An impossibly intimate portrait, this 1976 documentary by Albert and David Maysles, codirected by Ellen Hovde and Muffie Meyer, quickly became a cult classic and established Little Edie as a fashion icon and philosopher queen.
