The Story
Set in Minneapolis - Prince's hometown - PURPLE RAIN centres on young rock musician, The Kid. To escape his troublesome family life, The Kid spends all his time performing at the First Avenue nightclub with his band, The Revolution. Gifted and in love, The Kid falls for the talented Apollonia upon meeting her but nothin’ comes easy and he is soon forced to stave off rival Morris Day from stealing his spotlight – and his girl. When hell breaks loose both at the club and at home, the Kid discovers his only refuge is in music, and he becomes inspired to write the film’s famous title song.
